Program-Specific Giving
Charitable gifts dedicated to a specific purpose
In addition to annual membership contributions, Tall Timbers allows our donors to make program specific gifts that allow you the opportunity to give to a specific research or conservation program that has particular interest to you and your family. We hope that you will consider making a designated gift to one of the following operating funds of Tall Timbers. No gift is too small and contributions earmarked for specific departments will be used solely for that purpose.
Support Research at Tall Timbers
Game Bird Program
Pamela H. Firman Quail Management Research (QMR) Fund: Tall Timbers has a long and rich tradition of leadership in quail research. Beginning with Herbert Stoddard’s first study of quail life history nearly 80 years ago, Tall Timbers has led the charge to gain new knowledge that can be used to improve quail management. Contributions to the Pamela H. Firman Quail Management Research Fund represent an annual commitment to the long-term research on the 3,000 acres of upland quail lands on Tall Timbers. Your gift will be used exclusively for the Game Bird Program and its long-term work at Tall Timbers.

Albany Quail Project: The Albany Quail Project has conducted long-term research on private lands in the Albany, Georgia region since 1992. Under the direction of Clay Sisson, the Albany Quail Project seeks to shed new light on how we might manage for better quail habitat in the Albany region of southwest Georgia. All contributions made to the project will remain in the Albany area and will be dedicated specifically to our work there.

South Carolina Quail Project: The South Carolina Quail Project seeks to replicate the work and scale of management that currently exists in other high density wild bobwhite populations, in particular the contiguous Red Hills Region of private quail plantations in south Georgia and north Florida. Our research and habitat restoration work in the low country region of South Carolina is helping landowners and managers re-establish sustainable and huntable populations of wild bobwhites in the region.

Fire Ecology Program
The goal of the Fire Ecology Program is to provide the public with applicable, science-based information on prescribed fire and vegetation dynamics in the southern pine ecosystem. Research is focused on the Red Hills Region, roughly located between Tallahassee, Florida and Thomasville, Georgia and between the Ochlocknee and Aucilla River drainages. Contributions made directly to the Fire Ecology program at Tall Timbers will be used to help supplement the program with internships, supplies and capital needs.

Support Conservation Efforts at Tall Timbers
Tall Timbers Land Conservancy
The Tall Timbers Land Conservancy is considered one of the premier land trusts in the nation. We conserve working forests, farms, and recreational hunting lands in the Red Hills region of southwest Georgia and north Florida and other areas of the South that further Tall Timbers’ broader mission. Since its inception in 1990, over 115,000 acres have been conserved by conservation easements. These easements protect in perpetuity land that buffers our beautiful rivers and lakes, park-like pine forests, and scenic vistas that distinguish our rural countryside. The public benefits from these easements as they serve to protect the region’s water quality, clean air, wildlife and distinctive canopy roads.

Red Hills Land Use Planning
Tall Timbers is actively engaged in promoting responsible growth by helping communities plan for development rather than being overwhelmed by it. This two-pronged effort of land conservation and community planning will ensure that this distinct American landscape, designated by The Nature Conservancy one of “America’s Last Great Places” and by Scenic America as among the most scenic landscapes in the country, will be protected so that future generations will enjoy the beautiful Red Hills and beyond as much as we do today.
