About: Our georeferenced burn severity data can be viewed using the ArcServer internet-based application, which allows the user to view and manipulate mapped data over an internet connection.

These ArcServer projects can also be imported into ArcMap by following these directions:

(1) Open ArcCatalog

(2) Within the Catalog Tree go to GIS Servers

(3) Double click "Add WMS Server"

(4) To view the ANF project within ArcMap, copy the following URL into the space provided for the URL in "Add WMS Server": http://nbci.ttrs.org/ArcGIS/services/BurnMap_ANF/MapServer/WMSServer?

To view the ONWR project within ArcMap, copy the following URL into the space provided for the URL in "Add WMS Server": http://nbci.ttrs.org/ArcGIS/services/BurnMap_ONWR/MapServer/WMSServer?

(5) Click OK. A new WMS service has been added to the Catalog Tree.

(6) With ArcCatalog open, open ArcMap

(7) Drag the newly created WMS service under "Layer" within the Table of Contents. You should now be able to view and manipulate data within ArcMap.

 

ArcServer Directions:

Identify FeatureIdentify a feature by clicking the left mouse button on a desired map feature. An identiy screen will appear.

Identify ScreenIf you click the down triangle (as highlighted in red),

MagnifyZoom in (magnify) a selected area by holding the left mouse button down and selecting the area to be magnified. Release the left mouse button when desired area is highlighted.

 

Reduce Zoom out (reduce) a selected area by holding the left mouse button down and selecting the area to be reduced. Release the left mouse button when the desired area is highlighted.

 

Grab Pan across map by holding the left mouse button down and dragging map to desired position.

 

Full Extent Zooms map out to the full extent.

 

Back Extent Go back to the previous map extent.

 

Forward Extent Go forward to the previous map extent.

 

Magnifier Select a portion of the map to magnify, by moving the magnify screen (hold left mouse button down and drag to position) over to the desired location. The magification (2x-10x) can then be selected.

 

Measure Determines the X or Y coordinates of a point, measures the distance between features, or can measure the area of a drawn polygon. You can select the distance or area measurement units.

 

Overview Map Shows an overview of the entire map with selected area highlighted in red.

Map contents (highlighted in red) allows you to view the map features. Map Contents

Vegetation Type or Burn Severity Map queries (Highlighted in red) allow you to identify (find) a specific vegetation or burn severity class. Queries

 

If you select Vegetation Type a Vegetation Query will appear that will allow you to query all of the data for vegetation type.

If you select Burn Severity a Burn Severity Query will appear that will allow you to query all of the data for burn severity type.

All of the data and data attributes queried will be marked by a red tack and can be viewed under Results (highlighted in red).

Results of QueryYou can remove any results by right clicking the results you want to remove and selecting delete from the pop-up menu.
