Research Interests:
My research focuses on plant community and ecosystem ecology of the southern U.S. Coastal Plain with an emphasis on fire as a natural ecosystem process. Specific interests include effects of fire regime on natural communities, plant community classification and landscape natural history, determinants of fire behavior and fire effects, remote sensing of burn severity, effects of fire and other land uses on soil, and effects of fire on air quality and atmospheric carbon cycling. My program places priority on research that may be applied to conservation of natural communities and declining species.
Personal Interests:
I enjoy outdoor activities with my family and woodworking. I am involved with adoption support organizations and am active in my church.
