I am broadly interested in the sustainable management of natural forests. My research here at Tall Timbers focuses on the development of ecologically sound and economically viable silvicultural practices that will maintain productive upland southern pine communities in the Red Hills Region; identifying effective strategies for the re-establishment of longleaf pine on appropriate sites is of particular interest. All forestry research at Tall Timbers is carried out in the context of the frequent low-intensity understory fire regime that shaped the open multi-aged character of pre-settlement forests in this region.
