| My research interests include population and community ecology and conservation biology. My specific research areas include the disturbance ecology, especially hurricane and fire ecology, and restoration ecology of the southeastern United States. I have several decades of study involving empirical and experimental research on the dynamics of subtropical and warm temperate pine savannas, subtropical and warm temperate mixed mesic hardwood forests, and marine-terrestrial coastal transitions along the Gulf of Mexico. My primary long-term study sites include ones located in the Wade Tract and Woodyard Hammock at Tall Timbers Research Station, Long Pine Key in Everglades National Park, Avon Park Air Force Range in central Florida, and Girl Scout Camp Whispering Pines in eastern Louisiana. In addition, I have long-term studied ongoing at coastal sites at The St. Joe Buffer Preserve in Gulf County, FL, Weeks Bay NERR in Baldwin County, AL, Grand Bay NERR in Jackson County, MS, and Jean Lafitte National Historical Park in Jefferson Parish, LA. |
