Research Interests:

I am interested in the application of new GIS technologies, spatial analysis, and remote sensing. Much of my work at Tall Timbers has been spent introducing and maintaining GIS and GPS applications to support both the research and conservation programs. Over the past 10 years I have developed a passion for modeling fire behavior and fire effects. Working through the South Eastern Fire Ecology Partnership here at Tall Timbers, I have been involved with teaching several National Interagency Fire Center courses with a focus on predictive fire modeling. I have worked on numerous wildland fire incidents in both the Southeast and Pacific North West applying predictive models. Over the past 3 years, I have been a member of the LANDFIRE (Landscape Fire and Resource Management Planning Tools Project) fuels team with a focus on post disturbance succession and fuels models in the South East.

Personal Interests:

I enjoy spending time with my wife Caroline, and 7 year old twins, Meghan and Trey. I have developed a keen interest in juggling the twins' events such as flag football, soccer, ballet, church choir, and whatever else can fit into our crazy schedule. When not attending kids events I enjoy ultra-light fishing in the Gulf of Mexico, fly fishing from Florida to Upstate NY, and hunting. We also enjoy camping and attending church and other activities as a family.

The mission of Tall Timbers Research Station & Land Conservancy is to foster exemplary land stewardship through research, conservation and education.
